Devon Pamper Days
A Devon Pamper Day at Downe is a perfect day of peace and relaxation.
The Pamper Day is spent in spotlessly clean, spacious, modern facilities which are beautifully comfortable and cosily warm whatever the weather.
The client care at Downe is exceptional. The client’s comfort and enjoyment is the entire focus of the Pamper Day. (Even our American visitors remark that our client care is superb!)
A Pamper Day at Downe combines high quality therapies, use of top of the range gym & spa equipment and delicious refreshment to leave the client feeling truly pampered and relaxed.
The Content Of A Pamper Day
The Client is asked to arrive at Downe at 9.30 a.m. to begin their Devon Pamper Day.
The Client is welcomed upon arrival and a tray of tea or coffee or other soft drink is served in the Conservatory or the Atlantic Room.
When the Client has relaxed after the drive to Downe, she or he is provided with a guided tour of the facilities and an explanation of how to use the individual Spa facilities and, if they wish to use the Gym, they are shown how to use the Gym Equipment. We also advise the Client of the programme for the day and provide a written programme listing the therapies booked, the times of these therapies, the therapist who will be providing each therapy and the therapy room.
We then show the Client into the changing facilities. Waiting for the Client is a towelling robe and slippers for the day, a bath sheet, sweat towel and shower cosmetics. Keyed lockers are available for the client to leave valuables.
The Client then spends the rest of the morning using the Gym equipment and Spa facilities as she or he wishes.
A two course lunch is provided in the conservatory. After lunch, coffee or tea is served in the dry relaxation area or on the patio looking out to Lundy Island if the weather allows and the Client wishes it.
During the afternoon, the Client is free to use the Spa facilities.
During the Day, therapists will be in attendance to advise the Client when using the Spa facilities and the Gym equipment. Soft drinks (coffees, fruit, herbal and normal teas etc.) are available in the Conservatory as and when they are required.
During the Day, the therapies booked by the Client will be provided in accordance with the agenda notified to the Client at the start of the day.
At approximately 4.00 p.m. we provide a cream tea (fresh home made scones, whole fruit jam and Devon clotted cream served with freshly made tea or coffee) and we say our farewells at 5.00 p.m.
The Price of a Pamper Day
We take a building block approach to our Pamper Days enabling the Client to build the exact day that she or he would like.
The basic building block is “the Virgin Pamper Day”. This is a Pamper Day without therapies and costs £70. This covers use of the Gym and Spa for the day, lunch, a cream tea, soft drinks when required, towels, towelling robes, slippers, basic shower cosmetics and generally being looked after for the day. (It is truly exceptional value!)
To the cost of the Virgin Pamper Day is added the cost of any therapies that the Client may choose to enjoy. Every Pamper Day must include at least one therapy and Pamper Days start therefore at £105.
The price of a Pamper Day which includes a Sea Spa Manicure or Sea Spa Pedicure, for example, is £106 (£70 for the Virgin Pamper Day and £36 for the therapy).
The price of a Pamper Day which includes an Aromatherapy Body Massage, for example, is £125 (£70 for the Pamper Day and £55 for the Aromatherapy Body Massage).
The price of a Pamper Day which includes a Four Layer Facial and a Honey Body Polish, for example, is £182 (£70 for the Virgin Pamper Day, £59 for the Four Layer Facial and £53 for the Honey Body Polish).
Three treatments in the Pamper Day are a sensible maximum for an individual client who wishes to use the Spa facilities during the Day and in practice two treatments are often enough to make a Perfect Day.
Having said that we take a “building block” approach to our Pamper Days we do make have an number of “package” days as follows:
Top to Toe Pamper Day
This is for the lady who just wants to spend the day relaxing and enjoy a series of beauty therapies and does not wish to use the Spa facilities. It comprises a Day at Downe (including lunch, cream tea, refreshments during the day and use of towelling robes, slippers, towels and shower cosmetics) and four of our superb therapies: a Beauty Body Therapy, a Beauty Facial, a Sea Spa Manicure and a Sea Spa Pedicure. This Day costs £199.
Men’s Grooming Day
This is a day spent relaxing with a series of therapies designed to enhance both appearance and a feeling of well being. The day includes the Atlantic Conditioning Therapies for the Feet and for the Hands, the Sea Salt Spa Exfoliator and a Men’s Grooming Facial. Lunch and a cream tea are included. This Day costs £199.
Holistic Relaxation Day:
A day spent relaxing and de-stressing. The day includes use of the Gym & Spa, lunch, cream tea and the following therapies: a one hour Relaxation Massage in the morning together with the Stone at Downe in the afternoon. This Day costs £179.
Bride & Groom Day
A day for the Bride & Groom to relax immediately prior to their wedding day. The Day includes five therapies for each of the Bride & Groom, lunch & a cream tea. The Day costs £229 per person. Please ask for further details.
Mother-to-Be Day
A day of relaxation, ease and total pampering for the Mother-to-Be. The Day comprises a day at Downe (including lunch and a cream tea) plus the Mother-to-Be Holistic Relaxation Therapy, a Beauty Facial, a Sea Spa Manicure and a Sea Spa Pedicure. This Day costs £209.

No matter what industry they operate in, it is always very difficult for the provider of a service to convey the quality of that service. Reputation and recommendation are the principal tools relied on.
Our reputation is a primary source of our clientelle and with every Pamper Day we provide we continue to build our reputation. In addition to our general reputation, many of our clients are directly recommended by friends or colleagues who have previously visited Downe.
How do we convince the potential client who has not heard of Downe Health Spa or is not recommended by a friend or colleague? That is a key challenge for us and a key task of this website.

Another way to illustrate the quality of a Pamper Day is to describe something very simple within that Day as an example of our focus on client care:
Let us take the example of a tray of tea provided upon your arrival at Downe:
- There is a selection of a choice of teas (Earl Grey, English Breakfast, Redbush, various fruit and herb teas etc.)
- The tea is served freshly made in a beautiful bone china tea pot with matching bone china jug, sugar bowl, cup and saucer etc.
- It is served on a doily on an antique wooden tray.
- It’s served with a few choice sweet biscuits.
- It is brought to where the client is relaxing on a comfortable sofa.
- If additional water etc. is required it is provided willingly.
- Ample time to enjoy the pot of tea is provided in the Schedule.
Or take a cream tea at Downe:
- The scones are baked in the morning for the cream teas served that day.
- The jam is a thick strawberry preserve.
- The cream is thick Devon clotted cream served in a glass bowl.
- Everything is served in beautiful bone china on a doily on an antique wooden tray.
We are focused on providing every one of our Clients with a lovely experience when they have a cup of tea or a cream tea. If we are that focused on a pot of tea you can be sure that our therapies are lovely experiences. Our focus on client care permeates everything we do at Downe.
Pamper Half Days
Pamper Half Days are also available at Downe.
A Pamper Half Day provides three hours use of the Gym and Spa either from 10.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. or from 2.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m.
The cost of a Virgin Pamper Half Day is £40 and includes towelling robes, slippers, a bath sheet, a sweat towel, basic shower cosmetics and a tray of tea or coffee.
To the cost of the Virgin Pamper Half Day is added the cost of any therapies that the Client may choose to enjoy. Every Pamper Half Day must include at least one therapy and Pamper Half Days therefore start at £75.
A two course lunch (£15) or a cream tea (£6) can be added to a Pamper Half Day as well as therapies.
Pamper Evenings
We now make the Spa available for an evening Monday to Friday.
A Pamper Evening provides three hours use of the Gym and Spa either from a start time agreed for the booking.
The cost of a Pamper Evening is £40 and includes towelling robes, slippers, a bath sheet, basic shower cosmetics and a tray of tea or coffee.
To book a Pamper Evening there must be at least six guests and it makes for a ideal location for a get together after a working day.
Giving a Pamper Day as a wonderful Gift
Gift Certificates are available for Pamper Days and make a lovely present for someone who deserves a day of relaxation.
The Gift Certificate is a lovely gift for a wife, a girlfriend, a partner, a mother, a daughter or a friend.
It is a lovely gift for Easter, Christmas, a Birthday, Mother’s Day or just to say thank you to someone for being there for you.
If you are a loving husband, boyfriend, partner, son, father or friend who is very uncertain about what therapies to include in the Gift Certificate, don’t worry. Just ask us over the phone and we will be happy to advise you taking into account the likes and dislikes of the donee, your budget and any thing else that you feel will affect her enjoyment of the Day.
